At FBC of Manlius, our primary guide in all matters of faith and worship is the Bible.  We believe that it is the divinely-inspired word of God, it reveals how we live out our faith.  Our church is a member of the American Baptist Conference, however our doors are open to anyone on a faith journey, looking to learn and grow in the knowledge and truth of Jesus.  Even if you have never opened a Bible before, you will find friendship and encouragement to grow in your faith at our church.

Practicing Our Faith as American Baptists:

American Baptists, we follow the Lord's commands by participating in two key ordinances:  Baptism and the Communion.

     Baptism:

We reserve baptism for those who comprehend its profound significance: the rebirth in Christ through His resurrection. Faith in Jesus as the son of God is always the precursor to baptism. Baptism is not a We adhere to the biblical example set by Christ and perform full immersion in water, symbolizing new beginnings.  We believe baptism is the outward expression of what has already taken place in the person’s life

     Communion:

Communion, also known as the Lord's Supper, is a reminder of God's love and commemorates our Lord's sacrifice.  All present believers are welcome to take part in the Communion.  This is because we believe that the communion table belongs to the Lord, and it is not our place to dictate who should or should not be guests.  At our church, we take the bread and cup as a symbol of Christ's broken body and shed blood, which serves as a reminder of God's immense love for us.

Our Commitment to Religious Freedom and Spiritual Growth:

At our core, we believe that all individuals should be able to seek God's will freely and without hindrance. We appreciate the diverse theological perspectives held by our members and the Christian community as a whole. We foster a supportive environment that encourages spiritual growth through open and healthy dialogue.

Our Commitment to Evangelism and Our Community:

At our core, we believe in upholding the Great Commission of Matthew 28:19. This means we are dedicated to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our local community and being an encouragement however we can.  Recognizing the unity in God's family, we understand that God's family extends beyond our local churches, and that it's important to work together for the greater good. We believe in cooperative ministries and strive to collaborate with other denominations for effective witness and mission. As American Baptists, we are only one part of the Good Shepherd's flock and recognize that there are many others who share in this community of faith.
